There might be several reasons for the issue. If you are removing the Avira antivirus and its related programs from your Windows computer, the Avira Management Panel should be the final Avira product to remove. In case you remove it earlier, Avira won't uninstall properly. You need to reinstall the software and then uninstall it. Follow these steps to fix the issue.
Deleting residual files:
- Before you begin, install the Avira Registry Cleaner for cleaning the registry entries on your Windows computer.
- Next, boot your Windows computer in Safe Mode. In Safe Mode, you can easily delete the residual files.
- Click the Start menu and type 'control' in the search panel.
- From the search result, click to open the Control Panel.
- Choose Folder Options and then click View.
- Select Show Hidden Files and Folders. Click the OK button.
- Ensure that the folder options are correctly set and then delete the following folders: C:\Program Files\Avira, C:\ProgramData\Avira, and C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Avira.
- In case you cannot delete the Avira folders, rename them and boot your Windows computer in Safe Mode again to delete them.
- Next, restore the default folder view settings.
- If you try to remove Avira now, it won't uninstall because of the remnant registry entries.
