Bitdefender Blocking Outlook

Bitdefender allows you to exclude specific files, folders, and file extensions from scanning. To know how to add your Outlook app to the Exclusions list of your Bitdefender antivirus, go through the steps given below.

  • Start by launching the Bitdefender program on your computer by double-clicking its shortcut icon.
  • In the Bitdefender interface, click the Protection tab from the left-side panel.
  • Under the Antivirus pane, click Open.
  • Click the Advanced tab and toggle on the Bitdefender Shield button.
  • Click Yes if the device prompts for User Account Control.
  • In the Settings tab, click on Manage exceptions Add an Exception.
  • Click the Browse icon, select the Outlook app, and click OK.
  • Alternatively, enter the path of the Outlook executable file to exclude it from scanning.
  • Enable the following options below Protection Feature.
  • Antivirus
  • Online Threat Prevention
  • Advanced Threat Defense
  • Click Save to save the changes and prevent Bitdefender from blocking Outlook.

Alternative method: Create a new Firewall exception

You can also create a new Firewall exception to prevent Bitdefender from blocking Outlook.

  • Go to the Bitdefender interface by launching the app from the desktop.
  • Click the Protection icon from the left-side panel.
  • Click on the View Features link.
  • In the Firewall section, click the Settings icon.
  • In the Rules tab, click the Add button to create a new Firewall exception.
  • Select the executable files of the Outlook app and allow access to it.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts and exclude Outlook from being scanned.
  • Save the configured settings and restart your computer.
  • Launch the Outlook app and try to send a test email to check if Bitdefender is blocking Outlook from sending emails.
