The Bitdefender antivirus error 1008 mostly occurs while installing an update. When this error occurs, the Bitdefender Antivirus fails or crashes in its running state.

The Bitdefender error code 1008 might be caused due to incompatible programs that are run at the same time. This error code might also generate because of a virus infection, memory issue, or a bad graphics driver. Whatever the cause it may be, some effective resolutions are provided here to troubleshoot the problem.

Solutions to resolve ‘Bitdefender error 1008’:

1. Try to exit all the conflicting programs:

  • The runtime error may occur on your system if there are any programs conflicting with each other. So, stop these conflicting programs to troubleshoot the issue.
  • Press the Ctrl + Alt + Del keys simultaneously on your keyboard. The Task Manager will open.
  • Tap on the Processes tab. Choose each program one after another and click on the End Process button.
  • Check if the error message pops-up while stopping each process.
  • Once the conflicting program is identified, continue with the remaining solutions to troubleshoot the problem.

2. Try to update or reinstall conflicting programs:

  • Open the Control Panel on your PC based on its version. Then choose Uninstall a program.
  • When the Programs and Features window opens, locate the problematic program and tap on Update or Uninstall. Based on your choice, follow the on-screen prompts and finish the process. If the program is uninstalled, then re-install it and check if the error code is cleared.
  • If the program is updated, then see if you can view the error code again on the screen.

If the Bitdefender error 1008 still appears on the screen, then move to the next step.

3. Update the Virus protection program:

  • Either delete or update the virus protection program (Bitdefender antivirus) on your system that is causing this run time error.
  • After deleting or updating the program, check if the problem is resolved.

4. Try to re-install runtime libraries:

  • The runtime error might occur due to updates such as the MS Visual C++ package as it might not be installed completely or properly.
  • So, uninstall the package and install a new one. After uninstalling and re-installing, verify if the runtime error is resolved.

5. Check if it is an IE related Runtime error:

If the Runtime error is related to Internet Explorer, then use these steps to resolve it.

(a) Try to reset the web browser:

  • Open the search box on your Windows 8 or 10 PC and enter Internet Options. Next, click on Advanced and choose Reset.
  • If it is a Windows 7 device, then tap on Start -> Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Advanced -> Reset.

(b) Script debugging and error notifications should be disabled:

 Go to the Internet Options window. Choose Advanced and search for Disable Script debugging.  Once located, enable that option.  Also, disable the checkbox beside Display a Notification about every Script Error item. Then tap on Apply and choose Ok. Reboot the PC.
