How To Disable Firefox Certificate Check

Automatic Certificate Validation

  • Mozilla Firefox will always validate a certificate automatically if an Online Certificate Status Protocol server is specified.
  • If any of the certificates is not validated, it will be rejected and treated as invalid by Firefox. If you receive a warning about the invalid certificate, even though the website is safe to visit, you can disable Automatic Certificate Validation.

Step 1

Open the Firefox web browser on your computer.

Step 2

  • Navigate to the Settings or gear-shaped icon and click it.

Step 3

  • Select Options and click the Advanced tab.

Step 4

  • Go to the Encryption tab.
  • Click the Validation option.

Step 5

  • Deselect the checkbox beside Certificate Validation and click the OK button to disable the Firefox certificate check.
  • Now, the Firefox web browser will accept all the certificates without validating them.

Invalid SSL certificate

Secure Socket Layer (SSL) helps to protect your private data during transmission. If you have enabled it already, the Firefox browser will check the SSL certificate data to determine whether it is valid or not when you visit a website. If Firefox finds that the SSL certificate is invalid for a browser, you cannot access the browser. Sometimes, you do not want to block the website and avoid getting the warning message. In such a case, you can disable Invalid SSL in the Firefox browser. To do this, carry out the following steps.

Step 1

Launch Firefox on your computer.

Step 2

  • Enter about:config in the address bar.
  • If you see a warning message, click the I’ll be careful, I promise option.

Step 3

  • Navigate to the Filter box.
  • Type browser.ssl_override_behavior.

Step 4

In the Preference Name list, double-click browser.ssl_override_behavior.

Step 5

  • Go to the Enter integer value field.
  • Change the value from 2 to 1.
  • To save the settings, click OK.

Step 6

  • Exit the Firefox web browser.
  • Firefox will not block any website or display the invalid SSL certificate warning message.
