Step 1 - Network settings on Windows 7

  • On the desktop of Windows 7, navigate to the Start menu at the lower-left corner.
  • Click the Control Panel option from the context menu.
  • Select the Network and Internet option followed by the Network and Sharing Center option.
  • Go to the ‘View your active network’ section.
  • If Public network is selected, change it to Home network.
  • Exit the ‘Set Network Location’ window by clicking the Close button.
  • This will take you to the Network and Sharing Center window.
  • Select the ‘Change advanced sharing settings’ option on the left panel.
  • Navigate to the Network discovery section and select the ‘Turn off network discovery’ option.
  • Go to the ‘File and printer sharing’ section and select the radio button beside the ‘Turn on file and printer sharing’ option.
  • Also, select the ‘Turn off Public folder sharing’ option under the Public folder sharing section.
  • Click Save changes and exit the Advanced Sharing window.

Step 2 - Network settings in Kaspersky Internet Security

  • Launch the Kaspersky Internet Security application on your computer.
  • Click the gear (Settings) icon at the upper-right corner of the application.
  • Navigate to the Protection Center tab and click the Firewall option in the left panel.
  • Search for your network, right-click it, and choose the Local network option.
  • Save the altered setting by clicking the OK option.
  • Exit the Kaspersky Internet Security application and check if the problem has been resolved.
