Method 2: Enabling the administrator account

Improper access to run the installer file may also cause these kinds of issues. To access your Windows computer with admin rights, sign in to it using the administrator credentials. In case you have already logged into your account without admin rights, then enable the administrator account by following the instructions given below.

  • Open CMD with admin rights.
  • Run “net user administrator /active:yes” and press the Enter key.
  • Now, sign in to your computer once again as an administrator and try to install the McAfee software. After installing the software, disable the administrator account by running the net user administrator /active:no command in the CMD window.

Method 3: Running the MCPR (McAfee Consumer Product Removal) tool

The MCPR tool helps you clear the old files of McAfee that are conflicting with the installation from your computer.

  • Download and run the MCPR tool on your Windows computer.
  • Click Next Agree Next.
  • Once the old version of McAfee is removed, restart your computer and try to install the McAfee software.
