Norton Error 3048 3 Windows 7

Usually, while browsing the web with Norton Internet Security installed on your Windows 7 computer, you may face an error message saying, “Norton Security Suite has encountered an error. Error: 3048, 3’. The error may occur due to a few scenarios such as the temporary server update issue, corrupted Norton installation, or when the Norton AutoUpdate feature doesn’t work.

Method 1: Using the Norton LiveUpdate application on Windows 7.

On your Windows 7 computer, you have to run the LiveUpdate application. Follow the below instructions.

  • Close all the applications running on your Windows 7 computer.
  • Click the Windows icon and click the arrow seen at the right of the Shut Down menu.
  • Click the Restart option to restart your Windows 7 computer.
  • When your computer is back, start the Norton Internet Security.
  • In the home window, select the Security option.
  • Now, click on LiveUpdate in the next window. The Norton LiveUpdate will scan and install all the necessary updates. Wait until it finishes.
  • When the LiveUpdate is finished, click the OK button. In the end, you will see the message, ‘Your Norton product has the latest protection updates.’ Run your LiveUpdate until you see this message.

Method 2:Using the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool on Windows 7.

The Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool can be used to remove the existing Norton software from your computer and reinstall it, or completely remove the Norton installation files from your computer without reinstalling them. Follow the below steps to use the Norton Remove and Reinstall Tool to solve the Norton error 3048, 3 on your Windows 7 computer.

  • Remove the Norton Family software installed on your computer. Proceed with the following instructions to uninstall the Norton Family from your Windows 7 computer. Click Start -> Control Panel -> Programs and Features -> Norton Family -> Uninstall/Change.
  • Now, enter the email address and password that you used while the Norton Family installation and click the Continue button.
  • Restart the Windows 7 Computer if necessary.
  • Download the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool. The file will be downloaded to the Downloads folder on your computer.
  • Open the Downloads folder and double-click the NRnR.exe file to run the Norton Remove and Reinstall tool.
  • On the License Agreement screen, read the agreement and click the Agree button.
  • Click on the Remove & Reinstall button at the bottom in the next window.
  • Now, reboot the Windows computer by clicking the Restart Now button.
  • Once your computer restarts, follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall Norton Internet Security. 
  • Finally, reboot your computer after the installation is complete.
