Norton Smart Firewall Blocking Network?

Norton Smart Firewall is a part of Norton's advanced security technology. A firewall protects your computer from unauthorized intrusions. Thus, no one can get access to your files and data without your consent. But, when Norton Firewall starts to block the network, it might turn to be a nuisance. The following instructions can help you fix the Norton Smart Firewall blocking network issue.

Assign Full Trust to the device you cannot connect to over the network

  • Before you start, make sure that you have updated Norton to its latest version. If not, you can update it from the Norton Update Center.
  • On your computer, launch Norton. If you can find the My Norton window next to the Device Security option, click on the Open button. Click on the Settings button and then click on Firewall. Go to the General Settings tab and click on the Configure button. You can locate this button under the Network Settings option. Finally, click on the Add button.
  • Now, the Add Device window will be opened. Enter the information of the device that the Norton Firewall has blocked.
  • In the Name field, type the device's name (the one you cannot connect to over the network). In the IP or Physical address field, enter the IP or MAC address of the device. In the Trust Level field, choose the Full trust option for the device you cannot access from your computer. After you’ve finished entering all the necessary information, click on the Add device option. Then, click on the OK button followed by the Close button. Check whether you have resolved the issue now. If you cannot fix it yet, go to the next step.

Network trust configuration

Click on the Settings button; in the Settings window, click on the Firewall button. Go to the General Settings tab and click on the Configure option under the Network Settings section.
