  • To uninstall the Norton antivirus from your Mac computer, first, you have to download a tool from the official website.
  • Open the default web browser and go to the official Norton support website.
  • Locate and download the RemoveNortonMacFiles.zip file from the official website.
  • Once the download is complete, click Finder.
  • Under the Favorites, click Download on the left pane of the window.
  • To expand the downloaded zip file, just place the cursor on the zip file and double-click it to automatically extract the folder.
  • Open the RemoveNortonMacFiles folder. Now, press the control key and click the RemoveNortonMacFiles.commandfile.
  • Click Open with Terminal (default).
  • If prompted, enter the administrator account password.
  • On the Terminal window, press return > Applications folder.
  • In the Application folder, select the Norton application.
  • Drag and drop the Norton application into the Trash.
  • Type the administrator account password in the text filed and then click Install Helper.
  • When the Norton antivirus is uninstalled from the Mac computer, run the RemoveNortonMacFiles.command file in the Terminal.
  • Now, type the administrator password and then press return to remove all files from the Mac computer.
  • Once the RemoveNortonMacFiles tool removes all the Norton files from the Mac computer, type ‘y’ on the Terminal window and then press return to restart the Mac computer.
  • Make sure you have saved other application data, before restarting the Mac computer.
  • Once the Mac computer restarts, the Norton files will be permanently deleted from the Mac computer.
