How to Reset Windows 10 Firewall?

As an average user, you might not want to manage the Windows Firewall. But there are some users who would like to take full control of the Windows 10 computer along with its privacy and security, mainly to create some firewall rules and try to fine-tune their network and make it more secure as possible. If you know what you are working on, then it is totally fine. But if you go beyond and lose the controls along the way, then resetting Windows 10 Firewall settings is the best suitable option because you will definitely lose access to the Internet and create connectivity issues. NOTE: If you really want to reset the Windows 10 Firewall Settings, you need to make sure you have the administrator control. If you do not, Windows 10 will ask you to set an Administrator password. You cannot delete any Firewall rules without the Administrator account. There are three different methods to reset Windows 10 Firewall settings. Reset Windows 10 Firewall?

Reset Windows 10 Firewall From Control Panel

Resetting Windows 10 Firewall from the Control Panel is the simplest way.

  • Press the Windows key + R key and the Run command will open.
  • Type Firewall.cpl in the Run command field and press the Enter button.
  • The Windows Defender Firewall will now open.
  • Move the cursor to the left section of the Windows Defender Firewall window and click the Restore Defaults option.
  • The Restore default settings section will open in the next window. Click the Restore Defaults button.
  • Click the Yes button to confirm the resetting of the Windows 10 Firewall settings.

Now all the rules and the settings you have made in the Windows 10 Firewall will be reset. This will allow you to add a new set of rules based on your requirement or you can just leave it blank.

Reset Windows 10 OS Firewall From Windows Security

  • Click the Windows (Start) icon located at the lower left corner of the desktop screen.
  • Now, type Windows Security in the search bar and press the Enter button.
  • The Windows Security window will now open.
  • Move the cursor to the left portion of the window and click the Firewall & Network protection option.
  • On the right side, click the option Restore firewalls to default.
  • Click the Yes button to confirm the reset.

Reset Windows 10 Firewall Using Command Prompt

  • Press the shortcut keys Windows + R and the Run command will open.
  • Enter cmd in the Run command and press the Enter button.
  • Now enter the command netsh advfirewall reset and press the Enter button.
  • The Windows 10 Firewall will be reset.
