How to fix Trend Micro Error Code 201?

Trend Micro uses advanced security features to protect your computer from all kinds of malware and threat. This security application is compatible with iOS, Android, Mac, Windows, and Kindle devices. You can install this application manually by following the prompts displayed on the installation wizard. But, there is also a chance for some errors to occur while installing the Trend Micro application. The Trend Micro error code 201 is one of the common problems faced by most of the people while performing the installation. The error code 201 indicates Installation Unsuccessful, and it occurs as the installer could not extract the required files.

Solutions:

Remove previously installed Trend Micro Products:

Check if you have installed any other Trend Micro product on your computer.

If so, uninstall or remove it and then perform the installation process.

If you have installed the Worry-Free Business Security (WFBS) client on your computer, then just update it.

Make sure not to install the application again.

Remove third-party antivirus product:

On your computer, if you have installed any other antivirus application, then disable it temporarily or uninstall it.
After uninstall or disabling the third-party antivirus application, try to install the Trend Micro security on your computer.

If the Trend Micro Error code 201 persists, check if your Windows computer’s User Account Control is enabled.

Disable User Account Control (UAC)

Check if the UAC option is enabled.
If yes, disable it and then perform the Trend Micro installation.
To disable the UAC option, click the Start icon.
Search for UAC.
From the list of suggestions, click the Change User Account Control settings option.

Now, a window will open up.
In this window, click the slider beside the Never Notify option.
Click the OK button.
Restart your Windows computer.
Now, try to install the Trend Micro application on your computer.

Uninstall the Trend Micro components:

Uninstall the Trend Micro components from your computer using the SA uninstall tool. After that, reinstall the Trend Micro application on your computer. If the Trend Micro error code 201 persists, contact us.
