Method-1: Using the Control Panel

  • Search for ‘control panel’ using the search bar on the desktop and open the Control Panel window.
  • Select Windows Firewall and then click the Restore defaults menu on the left navigation panel.
  • On the following screen, click the Restore defaults button and click Yes to confirm the action.
  • Wait until the settings get restored and then close the window.

Method-2: Using Windows Security

  • Click the Start icon on the desktop and select the Gear icon to open the Settings window.
  • In the Settings window, choose Update & Security and then select the Windows Security menu.
  • Next, click the Firewall & network protection menu under Protection areas on the right-side panel.
  • Click the Firewall & network protection icon on the left end of the window and select Restore firewalls to default.
  • Now, click the Restore defaults button followed by Yes to continue with the reset.
  • Once the Defender’s settings have been reset, you can close the window.

Method-3: Using Command Prompt

  • Click the search bar and type cmd. From the search result choose Run as administrator to open the Command Prompt.
  • Input the below mentioned command and press Enter.
  • netsh advfirewall reset
  • Once the command has been executed, close the window and go to the Windows Security menu.
  • Open the Firewall settings and check if it has been reset.
